About Us
All work including USDA, wholesale
fleshing, tanning and rugging is done by
us in our facility and is never
subcontracted out. This means your skins
are protected and insured from loss,
fire, or flood by Sivko Fur Inc’s
insurance policy. Not everyone who
claims to be a tannery can provide you
and your hunter with this protection.
They are not insured or they subcontract
to others therefore your skins are not
always under their control. You can get
a copy of our insurance policy. You
should never send your skins someplace
where they are uninsured from natural
disaster or loss.

Through years of constant research and
development, my family has developed our
custom formulas. No other tannery uses
our formulas or processes. It starts
with our chemicals. The first step is
our pickle. Our pickle formula uses a
special degreaser and also is targeted
to quickly rehydrate and plump the skin.
Our custom tan is a modified alum
formula that maximizes stretch and
minimizes slip. We purchase our tanning
chemicals directly from the chemical
manufacturers. We do not buy pre-mixed
tanning products from the open market.
You could not buy our tanning formula
from a taxidermy supply catalog like
some tanneries.
In addition, all animals are not the
same in the treatment that they require.
We have unique processes and formulas to
handle those animals. Some may need
whitening, some may need blood stain
removal or deodorizing, some need extra
greasing or extra degreasing, some need
to be greased by hand, some should not
be saw dusted in a drum, some need to be
tanned separately. Through years of
research, knowledge of chemistry, and
hands-on experience of handling and
tanning millions of skins on three
continents with animals from around the
world my family has been able to develop
customized formulas and treatments to
address the problems that certain skins
present. We tan virtually everything,
even skins that other tanneries will not
and cannot tan. For example, it often
happens that a taxidermist has sent
skins to another tannery only to be told
that they are un-tannable before sending
them to us. These skins, especially
oxidized or oil burned African, are
difficult to tan but our years of
experience have taught us how to deal
with these previously rejected items.

Payment
Once your dry tan skins go into
tanning, you will receive an invoice
with a due date. We expect payment
before the due date. This is also the
date that we expect your skins will be
ready to ship. Wet tan must be pre-paid
before tanning is started. We accept
VISA, MasterCard, Discover and American
Express debit or credit cards. We also
can provide a secure online transaction
via email or we can process ACH Debits.
We also accept cashier’s checks, money
orders, cash, or personal checks for our
customers in good standing. No skins
will be shipped without payment.
Customers in good standing will receive
additional discounts and personal check
cashing privileges. Good standing is
defined by ON TIME payment
history and volume of work. New
customers may pay by personal check on
invoices up to $500.00 for initial
invoices over $500.00 a deposit of 50 %
will be required. If payment is not
received in 30 days after due date, a 2%
of invoice total will be added for each
month for storage. If skins are
not paid for within 90 days, we will
sell them. Prices are subject to change
anytime without notice. |
